The International Highway Project: A Global Peace Road - Northeast Asia – Europe - Africa
Our world is fast becoming virtually one integrated environment. Geographical distances are being overcome by ground-shaking, high-tech infrastructure programs for roads, tunnels and bridges, with massive financial inputs made available by powerful facilitators such as China (OBR), the EU (Global Gateway), the G7 nations (3BW), etc. But a crucial factor is missing, namely, a clear and common value perspective for the future world, often causing tensions among those facilitating powers as well as beneficiary nations.
How will such road building lead toward a future of peace, prosperity, and broad free exchanges among peoples and societies? Experts from Europe and Africa will discuss this crucial question. In this context, one of UPF’s signature projects, the ‘Global Peace Road’, initially proposed as ‘International Highway Project’ in 1981, will also be evaluated.
